The Tradition of Japanese Lacquer Art Taught by Professor Naoko Ito
Urushi is the Japanese art of applying lacquer to surfaces such as wood, pottery, or copper.
Workshop is taught by Professor Naoko Ito, an art professor at Kindai University in Osaka, Japan. She graduated from the Urushi Department of the Kyoto University of Arts. Before teaching at Kindai University, she worked as an artisan at the Zohiko Urushi Shop in Kyoto, which was founded in 1661.
